The site, formally known as Pennhurst State School and Hospital, consists of seventeen acres of reusable infrastructure. The Master Plan includes the addition of two miles of walking trails, stormwater facilities, and recreational areas. The park is being built in ten phases to create the opportunity to budget for construction over time.

Master Plan Makes Way for Park that is Environmentally and Financially Sustainable.
Eighty acres of rolling country side and woodlands was gifted by the Federal government to East Vincent Township to create a space that provides residents with educational and recreational opportunities.
”The East Vincent Park site contains some of the area’s most significant natural resources.
The trails provide naturally occurring stormwater runoff, complete with new directional signage, benches, and interpretive nodes. The trail contains three connection points to Spring City and connects to the Schuylkill River Trail system. A stream that spans across the site benefits from a seventy five foot riparian buffer to reduce erosion. Additional facilities were recommended (e.g. rain gardens, infiltration trenches, bio retention basins) to satisfy best management practice regulations. These features contribute to the environmental sustainability of the Park and compliment the surrounding area.
During discussions with residents it was discovered that the space would benefit from active recreational features. The Master Plan includes areas such as, shuffleboard, deck hockey, playground and basketball, baseball/softball, volleyball, tennis, and bocce courts for resident and organizational use. A memorial garden was given a stone wall and wrought iron gate. Currently, funding sources and program partners are being secured to continue to develop the site into a thriving recreational facility.
